Suspension Request — Be Taekwondo - Martial Arts & Fitness Centre.

Dear Member,

We’d like to take this opportunity to clarify how our membership fees and suspension policy work to ensure we’re providing a clear understanding of our processes.

Membership Fees

Be Taekwondo operates on a fortnightly direct debit system, which spreads the cost of training evenly across the year, rather than charging term-by-term. This approach makes membership more affordable and predictable for everyone, rather than requiring higher fees during active terms and lesser fees during breaks.

This means that while our classes pause during the 3-week Christmas/New Year break, the fees charged during this period are part of your overall annual training membership. Without this approach, your fees during active terms would need to be higher to balance out the reduced income during breaks.

Suspension Policy

Our Suspension Policy has been in place since our establishment in 2015 to ensure fairness for all members. As a reminder:

Suspensions are only permitted in cases of extenuating circumstances, such as unforeseen injuries or medical issues that require an absence of at least six weeks.
For non-injury or health-related reasons, such as extended travel, work commitments or other circumstances that require a continual absence of 6 weeks or more, suspensions will only be processed for such circumstances exceeding six weeks.
Requests must be supported by documentation such as travel itinerary, doctor certificate etc.

Note: a $2.50 per fortnight for suspension is continually charged.

Note: a member that cancels their membership over the December / January holiday period and rejoins prior to April the following year will be charged a returning membership signup fee of $150

How to Apply for a Suspension

If your situation meets the criteria, please complete the Membership Suspension Form (below) with the details and attach the required supporting documents. This allows our admin team to assess your request in line with our policy.

Please understand that our admin team is committed to applying the Suspension Policy consistently to maintain fairness for all members.
